Description
I was a senior in high school for the 2020-2021 school year. Due to the pandemic, I attended school via remote learning the entire year. During that time, I took AP studio art class which required me to create a series of works under the same theme. The theme I chose was concealment. I drew inspiration from the current issue of COVID-19 for my works including this one. Going from the protection of a mask in my piece “2020 pt. 1” I focused on the hiding my classmates and I participated in during online learning when in our virtual meetings. Every day we log in, cameras off, microphone off, then log off. Good communication is hidden along with our faces and voices in the realm of remote learning, and that is the concealment I tried to capture in this work.
