SUBMISSION SPECIFICATIONS

First-person, Experience-based Creative Work Related to the Coronavirus Pandemic’s Impact on Pennsylvanians: We are seeking creative expression of Pennsylvanians’ individual and collective experience of life during a pandemic. (For the purposes of this website, if you live in Pennsylvania, go to school or work in Pennsylvania, or have lived in Pennsylvania at some time in your life, you are a Pennsylvanian.) Our website provides a platform to share reflective experiences, creating a vibrant online community in a time of physical and social isolation. At the same time, the website will become an archive of these creative works, to be studied in the future as examples of the human response to pandemic conditions. Cutting across typical boundaries of identity and belonging, we support new ways of relating to one another and promote the importance of creative expression during an era of uncertainty, insecurity, illness, and loss. We ask all contributing writers and artists to consider these goals in submitting their work.

INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY

The Pennsylvania State University (University) is committed to and accountable for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of its forms. We embrace individual uniqueness, foster a culture of inclusion that supports both broad and specific diversity initiatives, leverage the educational and institutional benefits of diversity, and engage all individuals to help them thrive. We value inclusion as a core strength and an essential element of our public service mission.

As a community responding to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on Pennsylvanians, we endeavor to be a kaleidoscope of cultural backgrounds, life experiences, individual perspectives, and numerous other characteristics that add variety and vitality to the Viral Imaginations: COVID-19 repository.
