Personal Cadence
Charcoal and India Ink
18"x24"
Description
Personal Cadence began with a core of metallic ink at the center to reference a true self. It was vital to incorporate the push and pull of brighter and darker elements, working with and against each other, covering up and breaking through. Following the rhythm of myself through my materials, an organic piece began to develop. Removing and relocating pieces from the rectangular frame began to suggest either breaking free from or coming to fulfill their place in identity. The reflective and responsive process of Personal Cadence has uncovered a practice I’m looking to indulge for a while.
