In the Distance Stands a Coronated Court
In the enclosure,
Where the dogs chew their bones
One dandelion stood.
Her brilliant crown
Shone, a scion.
Spring’s pending triumph
Over winter’s occupation.
I pushed the mower
Over an assembled
Coronated court.
They multiplied,
Made common cause
With purple loosestrife
And fountain grass.
What little they care
For our worry and disease,
Or concepts
Like weeds.
Description
During COVID-19, I am writing poems about my experience of distance—near or far—from/with myself, from/with other people, and from/with the web of life.
