The 60th Barrier

The 60th Barrier

Family pulls apart each day
without their touch I’ve lost my way

The anger builds along with fear
so much is lost with no one near

Breath blows back on my covered face

I scrub to remove every trace
Human contact, there will be none

distant memory – having fun

Is degradation your desire?

Others gather while we retire

Masks, your barrier from the crone

she’s left to live this time alone

Description

Poem written on my 60th birthday as I was feeling sad and somewhat angry about such little contact with my daughters and granddaughters over the months since quarantine began….
