Wasteland Adventures
Digital photography
Description
The area near our home, formerly the trailer park, was left a kind of beautiful forest area until the beginning of COVID when all the trees (and habitats) were torn down. It seemed fitting to take a photo of my son and I exploring a physical area so symbolic of the loss of something (life/trees/homes) during a time when so many of us have experienced similar losses. The photo feels apocalyptic: a child in a wasteland devoid of what childhood should look like… masked, trying to make sense of it all at such a young age.
