Never Seen-COVID-19
Paper, Ink & Collage
6” X 6” X 6”
Description
Throughout this pandemic I have seen photos of COVID-19 illustrated and yet it is an unseen danger lurking at every corner, in every store, a danger lurking with every conversation I have with anyone outside of my household. I can’t actually see it, but I see it’s effects and they go far beyond the flu like symptoms and sometimes fatal effects on health. COVID-19 has disproportionately affected people of color in our country. I wanted to show with this piece how COVID-19 has exploded the racial injustices in this country. The interior of this icosahedron shows images of people of color killed, mostly by police, for unjust reasons. The exterior shows daily PA statistics of the rise of COVID-19 cases and deaths. The ribbons are 6 feet long. The white side list white privileges while the black side identifies everyday activities that led to the death of a Black person.
